South African Dates to Celebrate
Human Rights Day – March 21:
Commemorates the Sharpeville massacre of 1960, a tragic event in which police opened fire on unarmed protestors who were peacefully demonstrating against apartheid pass laws.
National Water Week – March 17-23:
A week-long event aimed at raising awareness of the importance of water conservation and sustainability, as well as the need to provide access to clean water for all South Africans.
World TB Day – March 24:
As in many other countries, South Africa recognizes World Tuberculosis Day as an important occasion to raise awareness about the global epidemic of TB, and to advocate for increased efforts to diagnose, treat, and prevent the disease.

International Women’s Day – March 8th:
Women make up about half of the global population, but only 24% of national parliamentarians around the world are women.
Probably because they have better things to do.
World Kidney Day – Second Thursday in March:
Kidney disease affects more than 850 million people worldwide and is the 6th fastest-growing cause of death.


My Birth Day – March 9th:
No longer “Young and dangerously good looking” but happy and well.

World Consumer Rights Day – March 15th:
Consumers around the world spent a total of $22.8 trillion on goods and services in 2019. -United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
The median personal income of American consumers in 2019 was $31,099.
The income of Pakistani consumers in 2019 was $1,220.


St. Patrick’s Day – March 17th:
According to the US Census Bureau, there are more than 32 million Americans of Irish descent, which is more than seven times the population of Ireland itself.
And all Irish will be hoping to celebrate a 6 Nations Grand Slam this year.
International Day of Happiness – March 20th:
Finland has been ranked the world’s happiest country for the fourth year in a row, according to the World Happiness Report 2021.
Happiness is having meaningful relationships with friends, family, and loved ones.

World Water Day – March 22nd:

World Tuberculosis Day – March 24th:
Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases, causing over 1.4 million deaths per year, according to the World Health Organization.
Far worse than “covid”!!!
Earth Hour – Last Saturday in March: 26th
In 2020, over 190 countries and territories participated in Earth Hour, which saw the lights turned off on some of the world’s most iconic landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State Building, and the Sydney Opera House.
South Africa does this every day!!!
